dane-elec my ditto

This is my first post, here, Dont be hard on me. I have found I can login to the web interface, do all settings there, set ip, format the hdd etc.


BUT When I set admin (gray) usb stick into USB1 and o the process to make a admin account, the first beep and keep pressing to the second (2) beeps come, wait for the light to go off at USB1 on the NAS, then I put the usb (gray) in pc, start the myditto.exe software, I get an error here, "please confirm you have a error 302 - valid internet connection. ?(

Firmware Version 10.2.19.2, might be a newer f/w to this Nas ?


It could be custom f/w, I'm open for all of this. Where to get the new f/w or a newer one...


I found that Edimax NS 2502 its a almost complete copy of MyDitto, can some one plz confirm that for me ?


Does F/w from Edimax NS 2502 will work on IT ?

I have the same hardware (MvixBox) but it has different firmware (one has OpenWRT and the other has mvix firmware).
These don't provide usb key installation for remote internet access.

Are you sure you have set the Myditto NAS box to actually allow remote internet access?

Seems that is one possibility from the message you are getting, viz the NAS box refuses remote access so the key responds with "invalid internet connection".
Often the software that comes with these old NAS boxes don't work anymore on current windows OS's (this is true for my MvixBox).
So does the eBOX.exe software associated with the USB key actually work on your windows OS version?

There is one forum user that has a myditto NAS box but not sure he is still running the original firmware (He was setting it up with OpenWRT).

I'll ask him if he knows something about your issue (and maybe respond directly on the forum).

I don't think that other firmwares will simply work with a reflash, as the FIS layout is different even though the hardware is the same.

I have flash it with the newest f/w my-Ditto_Firmware_10.2.19.6, I also have extracted this f/w and found the passwd fo login at telnet "ipnr and port" port = 1928, in some way I looked in a file and could see that root pass,

So I tested and wohola I was in and look around the NAS as root. its a small f/w, not so many program, just needed for running it, I try to start samba, so I added admin at the conf and thought it shoul take it, save it and reboot the nas from telnet, now it will be working, but hell no, it wrote back the
standard working smb.conf and I was back to square 1 again. I still not give up on this and I will be back for more information about this NAS, its have been a project for me now

What operating system are you using to connect to the MyDitto?

If nothing shows up under "network devices" in the OS you are using then good bet that:

Your NAS box probably uses the SMB1 protocol which has been deprecated on most recent operating systems.
You may need to re-enable some of the client side SMB1 functionality if using windows 10/8/7 or Linux.
I think that the SMB server on the MyDitto will be enabled by default and with it some initial access provision with admin privileges to get started.
Using SSH to add a SMB user should work if all the permissions are sorted but probably the way to go is to use those access keys.

I also have connectivity problems between my MvixBox and any current OS as a consequence.
In my experience: Windows 7 before SP1 is the easiest to enable SMB1, Windows 11 just won't co-operate at all with SMB1 (but I haven't tried hard!).
And Linux Mint (Ubuntu type Distro) it can be done with some effort and with some limitations.

Much of the auto discovery of network attached devices is not going to work very well with the CIFS implementation (= windows SMB).

But once you know the IP address, or the Myditto device name, you can easily access the NAS folders using "explorer" book marks.

Its solves some way anyhow, I wrote some script and put them on a usb stick, run those script from usb stick in front port, now I can start up samba and ftp when evere I like, so all working now :thumbsup:

Providing information as to what it is you solved may help some-one else with a MyDitto NAS box.
