Storlink SL351x RS232

Greetings to all forum users.

I am trying to connect with my nas box via rs232 but i get some unrecognized response. I have myDitto2 (same as Edimax NS-2502 but with reversed rs232 pinouts on board) and i found the following rs232 configuration on an external post;
speed: 19200
databits: 8
stopbits: 1
parity: none
flow control: Xon/Xoff

I have attached the unrecognized response. The only thing that i can understand is that the 44444s in the response is the loading dots (......) that i checked on other users' logs.

Could someone verify that the rs232 configuration settings are right? I have tried all the known and common speed values but with no luck.

I am one step before trying JTAG on board. Thank you.

Hi giannisepp!
19200 shoud be ok but xon/off is not used - set it to none

Check if your adapter is really running at 3.3V. Some USB adapter use 5V per default,
Check if the GND connection is ok.

Which adapter are you using?
Is the NAS in a working condition or did you run a firmware upgrade?

Best regards, HWguru

Hi HWguru,
sorry for my delay, I am wating a FT232RL FTDI to test it with. Now i am using a Prolific PL2303 (usb) Serial Cable but i think that it is not the suitable.
Also, i am not using any vcc on board (the 4th pin is free - i had read for that on forum - i do not know if it is right). Until now, i am using a short cable (10cm) from board to RS232 controller and the dumping starts when i power-on the nas. The nas bricked when the upgrade interrupted after a long hour delay. For some reason, i can get into bootloader (i think) without seeing the valid responses on screen, while i press the space right on power-on. After that, the network starts on 192.168.0.200 but i can not put (with tftp) something on nas. Also, last year the nas bricked again and i burned a rootfs on flashdrive and debricked the nas more easily. now it is more difficult.
When i receive the TTL controller, i will put my results here.
Also, i am going to connect the 3.3 vcc on 4th pin if my results are not satisfying.

HWguru thank you in advance.

Hey Giannisepp,

I think the Adapter maybe wrong, I think it is working with 5V only. Also you should not use it any more to avoid a damage on your board. How did you unbrick it the last time?
BTW how did you write the flash last time. I have also a thread in this forum where I write about building an open wrt firmware for the myditto. I do not know if I have myditto one or two, but am quite sure it is compareable with the Edimax. I was thinking I would have to flash from open wrt.
